Our Family

This last Tuesday (Veteran's day) I got to thinking about all of the sacrifices that people have made for us. What amazing blessings we have received from those who came before us. A picture came to my mind that I had seen at Aunt Mary's house of John (Johann) Jensen who is Grandpa Jensen's Grandfather. I know that some of us have heard the story of him fighting in the Civil War. But I thought I would share it for those who don't know, as well as for those of us who do know as a reminder. John joined the army and went to fight for the Union. He served faithfully in company H in the 6th reg Wisconsin Volunteers and was honorably released. When he got home his brother Peter was drafted, at this point Peter had gotten married and started a family. So John who was unmarried decided to go back into the Army again this time on behalf of his brother this time in company K 17th infantry Wisconsin Volunteers. During his time serving he was injured at least twice that we know of and one of those he was shot in the stomach at the famous battle of Gettysburg. I hope that we will all remember the Sacrifice that he gave for his Brother and show the same kind of love to each other. What great ancestors we have. Love you all!
